Ohhh, you meant "The Abyss", not "Abbys". LOL Yeah, I love that movie.

Instead of a base or wreck, can we request a medium-sized cave system?

up
1 user has voted.

That is a nice idea pell_mell. I hope the dev's could do somthing like that with the money. :)

up

Well, we have one near the Yongala wreck. It just needs more to it, as I detailed in this thread (http://www.divegame.net/node/58012).

Maybe such a cave?

I can't belief how clear the water is there...

up

BTW, that's not a cave, but a lake in the Silfra Ridge in Iceland. It's one of the submerged areas where the "North American and Eurasian tectonic plates and the South American and African continental plates converge".

Oh okay thanks for the informations about that Phaota.

A cave system would also be neat, if we requested a cave system I would like to see stalactites and stalagmites in it, and maybe a cavern filled with air where we can store equipment. Get some air fills etc. And it would need some tight squeezes and some large open caverns. Not much to ask really :)

up

Maybe we could ask them to build the forgotten underwater base, and have it located within a cave system? I don't think a regular cave system would be that much harder to model than the tranquility map

Without spoiling to much: i would suggest you guys (and girls) don't pick a cave system for the community shipwreck.

Well.. only if you really, really, REALLY want it of course. :)

up

Oh, so your hinting that we are getting a cave system anyway? :D

Ooooooooo! Well now I am even more excited :)
Haha Richard I see in your XP reset, you now have -50000 XP. You've practically banned yourself from the forums! ;)

Haha didn't notice that yet. Richard I know you think Dev shouldn't be VIPs, but I personally wouldn't mind. You guys don't show up on the leaderboards anyway, and if you think the badge is out of place, just disable it, but be proud to be a Poseidon ;-)

Of course we want a cave system. I covered this topic idea with my "How Deep Do You Want The Yongala Caverns?" thread. Since we already have that cavern, it just needs to be expanded and stuff added into it. That opening on the right where the green glowstick is located clearly was meant to be the beginning of the exploration journey. I would love to see that opening lead to a long series of caves, tunnels (narrow or wide), caverns (big and small), maybe one or two of them having a large air pocket in them with a small beach and glowing crystals or algae in the roof/side/bottom. There needs to be stalactites and stalagmites (being that the system would have been free of water at some point in the distant past for its creation). And, of course, various creatures/fish that have acclimated to that dark environment and can only be found there. Don't put plant life in the cave though. The environment wouldn't allow it being that everything is in pitch blackness all the time, with the exception of the glowing crystals or algae areas. A perfect example for this is the mine scene in "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" anime movie. Check it out.

Okay then, then how about a..... space shuttle? Not a UFO, but something NASA might have designed. I'd love to explore inside one, in the sort-of zero gravity of water!

up
1 user has voted.

Only problem is, the interior of the space shuttle is quite small. So it wouldn't be all that enjoyable to explore.

Just a suggestion;

What about a more recent wreck? Maybe from the late 80's or early 90's?

It'd be great to incorporate more penetration diving to the game, moving through corridors with lot's of wreckage and debris, giving a feeling of being in danger or indeed claustrophobic.

I think a more modern wreck with identifiable and distinguishing features will look and feel more hazardous to the player.

Sounds good to me. The more there is to explore, the better, but we need more than that. There is the metal detector still locked in the tools menu. This really needs to come into play, just like the multi-density tool in "Endless Ocean: Blue World". Let us find treasure and antiques that can be cleaned up and traded for XP or money.

Found a new wreck for the ideas area. It's an sunken German U-boat in the Gulf of Mexico. Check out the images here: http://www.wfaa.com/news/texas-news/Explorers-find-Nazi-sub-off-the-Texa...

This is the U-166. Just for your information: the upcoming map contains the U-352.
up

Yeah, but U-166 is clearly way bigger than the 352. Would have made for a fantastic wreck experience. Not saying the 352 isn't great, but it's not big enough.

My first suggestion was going to be an oil rig, but since Reinier already covered that, I'll move on to my second suggestion, which is a large modern day cruise liner.

It could be capsized, with half of the vessel being above water, & the rest under water. That would make for an impressive dive experience, because everything above the water line would be as it was when it capsized, & everything below the water line would be claimed by nature. It would also make for some awesome photos, provided you could even capture it in one frame. lol

I think it'd be awesome, not only to dive in, but to get lost in, as well. Think of how many places there would be to explore. A theatre, outside cabins, a galleria, bars, a casino, a restaurant, cafeteria, a grand hall, a ballroom, crews quarters, cargo bays, kitchen, library, the list goes on & on.

I'm not sure if $1500 would buy a cruise liner, but that's what I'd love to see.

I really like that idea too, I think it has the same apeal as an oil rig, in the sense that it has a lot to see, and a lot of nooks and cranny's. I'm not sure 1500 bucks will get us a big cruiseliner, but there's no limit when brainstorming!

We would have to take care and be aware of the appearance. I'm not sure a Costa Concordia look-a-like would be welcomed into a commercial product so soon.

Oh dear God, I completely forgot about the Concordia.

Well don't feel bad about it, we can't remember every tragedy that happens, besides this one happened halfway around the globe from you. But I just wanted to point out I like the idea a lot, but we have to be careful not to copy the Concordia.

Thats a cool idea too! And perhaps we could get a big one too, if they can re-use items to dress up the mines from Adams Venture 3 =D

Why don't we just recreate (a small part of) the Bermuda Triangle and put all sorts of mysterious stuff in it. Like e.g. the ships sink and airplanes crash because of some sunken alien technology? Or maybe the place is haunted and put ghosts in it.

This ALSO allows us to put both modern and ancient ships (and airplanes) in it, since the place alreasy exists for such a long time...

The Bermuda triangle found over here was part of a pull of the next dive location.

That would be awesome idea, especially in having a lot of various styles of wrecks from different ages in the area. Having ghosts would be great as well. I covered this topic in my "Ghosts of Wrecks" thread (http://www.divegame.net/node/68032) in the "General discussion" forum.

http://youtu.be/ROXykxPxkDY a neat side site I've dived personally that I think is a neat "wreck". It's subway cars used to start an artificial reef, articles/pictures make it look like a abandoned train field.

I would love to see a submarine wreck, like a large nuclear submarine crashed and perched precariously on a cliff overlooking a seemingly bottomless inky black abyss. Even better if it could tip and wobble precariously as you explore it while making creaking and groaning noises sounding like it could tip and fall off at any second. A nice dark deep dive with a cool submarine interior to explore.

I would really like to see the sunken town of Port Royal. Most of you have probably already heard of it. The infamous British capital of the West Indies. It was hit by everything mother nature could throw at it, and after a couple of earthquakes the greater part of it sank. THAT I wouldn't mind exploring. Throw in a few hidden treasures, the obligatory pearls and dubloons..

Some pictures of it, how it looks today:

Maybe something like Abu Nuhas in Egypth Red sea?
Its got 4 wrecks together, next to an island.
And one on 86m.
+ nice Sealife and reefs

http://www.articlesbase.com/destinations-articles/red-sea-dive-locations...

Maybe a bit more work but an Ship graveyard would be really cool and gives more opportunity's than one ship(So Dev can have some more room for them skills).
Even if one ship has some rooms closed another can make up for that.
Different payloads so more to see and find.
A way to the deeper wreck would be awesome to, even if just big dropoff.

At least i hope we keep things realistic don't really like to look to an ufo underwater(lot nicer in the sky).
