How to publish a photo on the Forum - Tutorial

If you want to add a photo in your post you have to follow these easy steps:

1- Have a photo to upload (duh!)
2- using a picture hosting site (such as http://imgur.com ) upload the photo to the web

3- obtain the link to the photo (the address written in the address bar once you click on your uploaded photo until you see nothing else but that photo in your browser…)

4- Post a topic in WOD Forum… (make it cool and interesting!)

5- When it’s time to add the photo write this :

(Replace the XXXXXXXXXXXX with the address you got from step 3…)

So if I use MY example address (yours is different of course) it would give me :

6- Click SAVE and you are done!

Hopefully this will help you get photos in your post, try it below!
If you have any problems, comment here and I will try to help you,

Cheers

That is a good tutorial for all the new users which we got in the past few weeks / months.

I hope some of the Mods or the Dev's make this post sticky.

Nice tutorial ray! Looks like the work of a future VIP ;-) an added advantage of imgur is also that they provide you with a standard html link after uploading. You just have to add the width yourself then.

Thanks to Reinier for this tip to speed up step 3:

To quickly copy the code you need, then you just add: width="100%" before you close the ending >

cheers!

Good to see you've taken the effort to make a tutorial for the less technical advanced among us.
Thanks Raymalone!

Thanks Rayma

Alternatively you can set the width to 100%, this will make sure it stays within the textbox, even if posting a reply

Finally found this!! But isn't it a little complicated? Wouldn't be easier to just upload it directly from the computer?

Work is for people who don't dive

Sadly, there is no function on the forum allowing that.

And, it is true that pictures takes a lot of data load to the servers and it is always better for a forum to get the pictures hosted elsewhere :)

Thanks for the detailed instructions Ray. I especially appreciate the graphic presentation. This question gets asked a lot, so I agree it should be a sticky.

Do you think it is possible to change, in the original post, the "width=600" by : width="100%" ?

Often people come here to know how to, then their post or sign start to disform the forum template and they end up changing it to width="100%" anyway :)

Somebody would have to make new pictures with the correct width in the html code to do so

Hope this worked / didn't work - Help!

>img scr="http://i.imgur.com/iw3taFz.jpg" width="100%"<

I put this in with the end characters reversed so you can see it.

I just picked a photo that was there, I didn't upload my own photo.
1: Do you have to be a member for this to work.
2: can you just load a picture from the sight as I did.

EDIT : Found your problem, see end of post.

My code :
>img src="http://i.imgur.com/iw3taFz.jpg" width="100%"<
Which gives :

If I compare your code and mine : (my code above, your code below, copy/paste)

>img src="http://i.imgur.com/iw3taFz.jpg" width="100%"<
>img scr="http://i.imgur.com/iw3taFz.jpg" width="100%"<

EDIT FOUND IT :

You wrote : "img scr" where you should write "img src". Simple switch of "r" and "c". I have dyslexia so it took me time to find it :D

You can also upload an image in the contents section of your steam account and take the link from there.
